Wattles: An Abundant Life Is Your Inherent Right
According to Wallace Wattles, an abundant life is your inherent right. The very first chapter of Wattles classic 1910 book “The Science of Getting Rich” is devoted to the idea that you absolutely deserve and have the be right to be rich.
Yet ironically, this belief, which is literally a prerequisite to mastering the use of law of attraction — which is what Wattles book is really about — is also the single biggest stumbling block for most people.
It is easy to understand why. Most people on this planet carry deeply ingrained, negative beliefs about money that have been instilled from birth, if not conception. And these are beliefs that have been part of civilization for for thousands of years.
Ideas such as money being the root of all evil, or that good deeds should not be compensated. Indeed you live in a world where the higher your purpose and the greater the value you bring to society, the lower your compensation expectations. If you don’t believe that statement to be true, simply look at the average wage of a nurse, or a teacher, or a social worker.
It’s as if good deeds should not be compensated because if you ask for compensation, then it is no longer a good deed.
This is the reality of the belief system under which the vast majority of people in the world operate. It is a belief system that is extremely difficult to overcome because it has been socialized into the very fabric of most human cultures. There is an inherent disconnect between the idea of being a good person doing a good deed and being well compensated for doing so.
This belief is so debilitating to your prospects of living the abundant life you really want. Unless you are able to overcome these ingrained attitudes around money, your thoughts — conscious or subconscious — are sabotaging your progress every step of the way. They do not serve you in your quest for prosperity.
This is the reason why Wallace Wattles goes to great lengths to emphasize that not only is the Universe abundant, but you have as much right to share in that abundance as everyone else.

The truth is that money is simply a tool. To have more money and abundance means you are able to do more … for the good of everyone whose life you touch. You can help more people and you can give back more the world when you have more to give. That is the reality of money and that is why an abundant life is your inherent right.

If you use the gym and it’s keeping you healthy, than it’s a good investment. After all, your health is important. A Wealthy Mindset For Financial Abundance, Key Points To Consider
How To Attract Money: Why Is It So Difficult to Attract Money Into Your Life?
For most of us, learning how to attract money into our life easily is very difficult. I received the following email from one of our readers recently that really struck a chord:
“Warren, what is your definition of money and how do you picture it? The reason I ask is because I have tried so many different home study and coaching programs that tell you how to think and begin to manifest money and wealth, but they just don’t work for me. And no one seems to really want
to take me there. I’m not saying that their programs have no value, but they don’t seem to ever really complete the picture. I notice you have a couple of programs of your own that you’re selling, so help me with these questions.
How does someone like me, who’s still not able to get it, get over the hump? I am working really hard and I want to create more abundance in my life, but I haven’t been able to make any of these programs work for me.”
Firstly, thank-you for the email. You’ve asked some really good questions and they’re questions most of us can relate to at one time or another.
Money, for me is merely energy … it’s a medium of exchange. There’s nothing good or bad about money, but rather it just is what it is and is a means by which I’m able to acquire things or services I desire, or by which I’m able to contribute.
By the way, debt is the same. It’s neither good nor bad, it’s just debt. How we feel about it and what we think about it can make the debt we may carry feel like a good or bad thing, but those are all feelings that are predicated on the mindset we hold around the topic. And of course, by law of attraction, what we are focused on and how we feel about it is going to determine what we attract.
When I’m visualizing about what I want, and if I take the time to peel back the layers of the onion, it’s never the money. Yet, this is a trap I catch myself falling into often — I’ll find myself focused on the money rather than what I really want. And what I really want is ultimately to be able to experience and feel something.
For example, I want to be able to take my family to Disney World and watch the enthusiasm of my kids as they ride Space Mountain. That’s the feeling of joy I want to have and that’s what lights me up. It may require some money to make that happen, but it’s the experience at Disney World that I’m after and that’s what I really want. And when I picture the experience in my mind, it triggers real emotion for me.
Which is exactly what I’m after.
The challenge with all of the “how to think and get wealthy” programs (including our programs), is not that someone is not willing to take you there, but rather it’s that no one can take you there other than yourself. And there’s the rub …
I know I often catch myself just wishing someone would take me by the hand and “show me how” and just fast track my journey for me. But of course that never works because the journey is 99% mindset and without the mindset, the mechanics just don’t have the same impact. And the only person who can change my mindset is me, but it takes a ton of effort, patience and persistence every day, even when it’s not obvious that it’s working or having an impact.
Developing the faith and the trust is such a personal thing … and it’s where the bulk of the work lies.
The best I can suggest to you is that there is a set of daily practices you can adopt that will help to build the habit of thinking that will result in a change of mindset over time. But the degree to which that mindset shift occurs depends entirely on your diligence in fully engaging with the practices every day regardless of how you feel and what’s going on around you.
In my opinion, that’s why most people “fail” at this. They don’t stick with the practices for more than a few days at best and so not enough time has been invested to establish new habits. So of course, the old thinking habits then immediately kick back in.
I keep observing this behaviour even in myself. It’s difficult to stay focused on what I want when all of my present results or circumstances are to the contrary. It takes discipline and will power to keep my mind focused on where I intend to go rather than where I am.
As the cliche goes, developing the mindset that allows you to attract money easily is a simple matter of developing new habits of thinking, but it may well be the most difficult work you will ever undertake.

Now look for things to trim:
- Do you regularly buy a latte on the way to work? That’s costing you $20 a week or a bit over a thousand dollars a year. Make a latte at home and drink it on the way to work and save the rest.
- Do you smoke? Kick the habit. It’s not just killing your lungs; it’s costing you anywhere from $100 to $200 a month or more. That adds up to almost 2 grand per year.
- Do you eat out at lunch? Even a fast food meal is around six bucks. If you figure you spend 240 days a year at work, and eat out for a hundred of them. Is that $600 you’d rather have back?
- Unnecessary ‘convenience food’ costs you. While you’re in the kitchen, look at how many pre-packaged meals you eat. Every single one of them represents two to three dollars you’re paying someone to cook something for you.
- Make your own fast food. Once you start cooking, you can look at other ways to be frugal, like cooking large batches and freezing the leftovers. When you need food fast, grab something out of the freezer and just heat it up.
- Drink water. You pay a lot less for water from the tap than you do for soda or bottled water. Buy a water filtration pitcher, and keep it filled.
- Use coupons. Save even more money by using coupons when items are on sale. You might end up paying only a few cents for an item you use all the time.
- Follow the ‘wait 30 days’ rule before buying anything that costs more than $50 or so.
Get in the habit of spending Sunday afternoons packing a week’s worth of lunches. You can make your favorite foods and freeze them or cook a little extra for dinner each night.

Any time you feel the urge to grab a soda, drink an 8-ounce glass of water first. Then see if you’re still thirsty. This will cut down your soda habit tremendously.

Being frugal and learning how to save money takes patience and practice, but the rewards are worth it when you find you’ve saved enough money to get out of debt, go on vacation, or buy a new car.
