“There’s a downside to the law of attraction”
In our work, we’re very focused on the deliberate use of Law of Attraction. This law states, simply, that you attract into your experience whatever it is you focus on. Period.
This is very powerful. For it means that any of us has the power to create whatever life we desire simply by applying Law of Attraction in a deliberate way.
You get what you focus on
But there’s a downside to Law of Attraction. And it’s this … you attract into your experience whatever it is you focus on.
Now if your focus is on what you don’t want – too many bills, too much debt, things that have gone wrong – then guess what you are going to get? More of those things you do not want.
And so there’s the downside.
By not being consciously aware of what you are focusing on, should your default position be on the things you don’t want (which tends to be the case for the majority of people), then Law of Attraction gives you more of the same.
Use law of attraction deliberately
This is why the deliberate use of Law of Attraction is so key. It is in this way you can control what you are attracting.
This can be a very elusive concept.
Remember, the thoughts you have lead to words, which lead to a feeling, which leads to an action, which determines the vibration you are sending.
Law of Attraction matches your vibration
So, if that’s the case, then your job is to mind your own vibration. It’s your job to ensure your are in vibrational harmony with what you want.
So how do you mind your vibration? By being very mindful of and monitoring the language you are using in your conversations. And taking the time to correct your language whenever you catch yourself.
Now, there’s one conversation in particular which requires very specific attention. That’s the conversation you are having with yourself.
You know what I’m referring to. It’s always there. Even right now while you are reading this.
There’s that little voice in your head which is always commentating of what you are seeing, what you are doing, what you are thinking – everything.
And it’s easy to recognize when you’re paying attention. It may say things like “that’s stupid”, “that was dumb”, “this isn’t going to work”, “I always fail”, etc.
Mind your self talk
Well, in everyone of those examples, your self talk is entirely focused on what you don’t want. And Law of Attraction doesn’t know the difference between what you want and what you don’t want. It only gives you what you are focused on.
Realize that every time you say something like that, whether out loud to someone else or silently to yourself, you are sabotaging yourself and your results.
So monitor your language diligently. Each time you catch yourself, pause and then correct.
“So, what is it I do want?”
“That’s interesting”, “this works for lots of people, it can work for me too”, “I always succeed when I put my mind to it”.
Begin monitoring your language and you will start to get better at refocusing on the things that you do want.
And as you get better at that, the better your results will be as well. You will be avoiding the downside of Law of Attraction because you will be applying the Law of Attraction deliberately.

This question has been asked time and time again by just about everyone that’s ever heard of the Law of Attraction: does it really work? As hard as it may be to believe, the Law of Attraction works. It has always worked and it will always work whether you practice it or not.
Simply put, the Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. It’s based on the fact that everything in this world emits a certain vibration and those vibrations seek out and interact with other things that have similar vibrations.
The law of attraction at work
Have you ever noticed that when one bad thing happens in your life it is often followed by another? This is often called the domino effect. We have other sayings for it such as: “When it rains it pours.”
That’s the Law of Attraction at work.
If the Law of Attraction is so great, why use negative examples to illustrate its effectiveness? For some reason, we as a society find it much easier to believe something negative instead of the things that are positive. When good things happen we just write them off as a one-off lucky break or think that it was just chance.
Is the law of attraction about chance?
There’s no such thing as chance. Everything that happens in this world and in your life happens for a reason. That reason is the Law of Attraction.
Whether you accept it or not, the Law of Attraction works. To believe that it works means that you have to accept responsibility for where your life is and that makes it hard for many to accept the Law of Attraction. Most people right now reading this are going to think: “I do accept responsibility”.
Do you really?
Where are your thoughts right now? Are you worrying about money or how to pay the bills? Are you stressed over the fact that more bills keep coming and the money keeps getting spread thinner and thinner?
- The more you worry and stress out about bills, the more bills you’ll receive. The more you worry about not having money, the less money you’ll have in your bank account. If you simply change the way you think about these things, you’ll be amazed at what will happen. You will begin to take positive action subconsciously.
Spend the next 14 days not thinking about your bills. Don’t look at your bank account. Every time you go to the mailbox, picture money in there. Every time you start to think about bills and debt, transform your mind into thoughts of overflowing abundance.
- Think about what you have in your life that is good. Everyone, no matter who they are, has something to be grateful for. Figure out what you’re grateful for and focus on it.
Some people will argue that it takes more than just “thinking” about things to make them happen or appear, which is true. Thoughts need to be transformed into actions. That’s why some believers say that, so long as you’re thinking about what you want in life, you will take the necessary actions to make those things happen. This is simply another way the Law of Attraction can work.
The Law of Attraction is working right now, all around you
It’s at work in your life. It’s time for you to take control and make the Law of Attraction work in your favor. This means you have to change the way you think. You have to be grateful for what you have and you have to always focus on the positive. The Law of Attraction is real, and it is powerful.

That’s because most people spend the bulk of their time rehashing things that have happened in the past (like why people don’t like me, or a divorce, or that idiot who cut me off on the freeway) or worrying about things that might happen tomorrow (what if …).
We’ve heard it said that we average about 60,000 thoughts per day. The problem for most of us is that it’s the same 60,000 thoughts each day.
The law of attraction works whether we’re aware of it or not (just like, say the law of gravity works all of the time). The opportunity is to become aware of the law and to learn to use it deliberately by consciously monitoring our thoughts and placing attention and focus on what we do want.
Now that in itself can be a very elusive thing. What we’ve described is a very simplistic definition of what law of attraction is and how it works.
Learn how to match or “align” your vibrationThere are nuances to learning to work with it effectively. One of the key ones is matching frequencies of vibration, which is a topic we’ve blogged about quite a lot in the past. Essentially, we and everything around us are energy. Like energy, which can be measured as a vibrational frequency, attracts like energy.
