Personal Responsibility

I was originally going to continue with the Andy Andrews seven decisions series from his book The Traveler's Gift.

But instead, I'd like to elaborate on the topic of personal responsibility we introduced last week.

Personal responsibility is not about assigning blame for something. There is nothing negative about the term.

Rather, Andy talks about personal responsibility really being about hope and control.

It's about control because you always have control over how you choose to respond to events that happen in your life. Because every response is a decision. And you can consciously choose decisions, one at a time, that move you closer to your goals.

And so that's where the hope comes in.

It's about hope, because by realizing I am responsible for my decisions and that my decisions are within my control, that means I can have hope to create a future more in keeping with what I really want.
