In Andy Andrews'
book The Traveler's Gift, he covers the seven decisions that
determine personal success.
Decision #4 (and
yes, I'm covering these out of order) is this:
I Have a Decided Heart
Successful people
make their decisions quickly, and change their mind slowly.
They make their
decisions and then remain committed to that decision. Or, as
Andy Andrews says, they commit to making their decision right.
Regardless of the
amount of investigation and analysis you conduct, you will never
ever have all of the information. That's just the reality of
living in this world.
So, in that regard,
every decision is ultimately a leap of faith.
I see so many people
become trapped in analysis paralysis, whereby they are so fearful of
making the wrong decision that they fail to make the decision.
And so, the potential opportunity that was represented by making
that decision passes them by.
Which of course is a
decision in its own right!

And of course it's all
driven by those nasty culprits called fear, doubt and worry -- those
persistent imaginings so many of us are prone to play constantly in our
minds.
How often do you
find yourself failing to make a decision because you are fearful,
and so opt for the status quo.
How does that
typically work out for you? Have you found you missed out on
some terrific opportunities or experiences? Did you know that
most of the regrets people have are over things they didn't do -- in
other words over decisions they didn't make?
Courage is the
ability to act decisively in spite of your fears. So strive to
be courageous and be decisive based on the information that you do
have. Decide based on what your intuition and instincts
are telling you. Learn to trust them.
And remember, the
point of analysis is to come to a decision.
Decisiveness and
commitment to the decision is a common trait of all successful
people.
So choose to be
successful by being decisive and then commit to making that decision
right. |
