In Andy Andrews'
book The Traveler's Gift, he covers the seven decisions that
determine personal success.
Decision #7, the
final decision, is this:
I Will Persist Without Exception
It's the phrase
"without exception" that is the key to this principle.
Most people decide
to persist until they quit. And of course that is not the same
thing as persisting, without exception.
If you have truly
decided that you are going to achieve what you set out to do, then
you control the rules of the game, and the game is on until you win.
No matter how long
it takes.
Without exception.
Anytime that you
attempt something that is truly worth having, you are going to
encounter obstacles. Most great achievements are difficult;
that's part of what makes them great. If it was easy, everyone
would be doing it.

So, when you have truly
decided upon something, then you must persist without exception.
No matter what the present circumstance.
One of the key points that
Andy makes is that, whenever you feel stuck and that you've tried everything
you can, all you lack is a new idea.
You don't lack the
time. You don't lack the money.
You are only lacking
the idea.
So ... even if you
don't know what to do -- even if you don't know where you'll find
the time, or even if you don't know where you'll find the money (or
whatever it is that you don't know about) -- what would you do if
you did know?
This is very
powerful, because it leads you to generating new ideas -- which is
all you were ever lacking.
So separate yourself
from the 97% of people who don't have the success they desire in
life, by persisting towards your dreams, without exception. |
