  1. i have a very low self esteem issue. I also am a emotionally unstable borderline personality. I have no self worth. I always think my husband will abandon me since everyone has done it through out my life. What can i do to help me feel better about myself and love myself instead of hate myself?

    1. Hi Jennifer.

      Everyone has self-worth. I’d suggest a simple exercise you can complete, as a place to start:

      1. The past is the past and it can’t be undone. It also doesn’t matter. Write a list on a sheet of paper of any past events for which you blame yourself in some way that you feel are connected to your sense of self-worth. Then find a safe place you can burn the sheet of paper (metal waste basket, fireplace, etc.), light in on fire and watch it burn. While it’s burning, say to yourself “I release the past and I forgive myself”.

      2. Now write out a new list of your best qualities. Title the page “Why I Love Myself” and post the list somewhere prominent, such as your dresser mirror or carry it with you in your purse. Read the page aloud to yourself every morning when you arise and every evening before you go to sleep. Do this every day for at least the next 21 days.

  2. I have bad low self esteem, i’ve tried to get rid of it but it didn’t do much. I had a mental breakdown last night when I was going to ask someone out. The part that hurt me the most is when I said I couldn’t do it my best friend did it for me, I said forget it I don’t want to risk ruining my friend ship with him. So I tried not letting anyone I knew see me for the rest of the night until I went home from a football game. I tried calming down I couldn’t calm down, I was hyperventilating. I was able to calm down but I still need help to control my self esteem.
